What is Existence?

Spirituality for me is the observation of the fact that I exist, and the not knowing what that means. 

For instance, I describe it as a fact, but is what my senses allow me to perceive a 'fact'?  If I couldn't see, hear, smell, taste or touch, the 'fact' of my existence would be quite different. Similarly if my senses were replaced with 5 entirely different senses such as echolocation which allows bats to receive information about their surroundings by their awareness of the time it takes for their sounds to echo back to them, or the snakes ability to detect prey?using infrared?

Is existence the same as life? does it begin at conception, does it exist prior to conception in the ovum and the spermatozoa. Sperm in some sense is alive, in that it dies within 72 hours, the ovum within 24 hours ( If they die then must they not in some sense be alive )

If our bodies are continually ovulating and ejaculating throughout our lives, then are those little lives which do not conjoin with each other existences in their own right? The potentialities which time allows to exist without the upheaval of combining to produce almost a century of complex organic processes  

Is the zygote, a human being at its earliest developmental stage the beginning of existence?

Pro-choice and pro-life arguments provide us with many opinions on this matter.  

Where was I before I was born? was I before I was born?  

These are just a couple of the thoughts which I have and what I consider my own spirituality to be concerned with.

One of the Perils of Hand drawn typography - I became so absorbed in the lettering that I missed out the i in Samhain, (pronounced Sowen) which is the pagan festival upon which Halloween was overlaid (Halloween is the compressed Chinese whisper of All Hallows Eve - The Eve of All Hallows day or all saints day)
